8. Arrays#
When a program needs to store many values of the same type, arrays provide a compact structure with indexed access. This chapter covers one-dimensional and two-dimensional arrays, including declaration, initialization, traversal, and method use.
Array: An array stores a fixed number of same-typed values under one name.
Index: An index selects a specific element by position.
Traversal: Loops let a program visit each array element systematically.
Two-dimensional array: A 2D array models grid-like data such as tables, boards, and matrices.
Arrays are the foundation for later data structures because they connect memory layout, indexing, loops, and collection-style thinking.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this chapter, you will be able to:
Declare, initialize, and access one-dimensional arrays
Traverse arrays with
forandforeachloopsUse array indices safely and explain valid index ranges
Declare and process two-dimensional rectangular arrays
Pass arrays to methods and return arrays as results
